Three former employees committed a scam, defrauding Omega

The watchmaker says it sold a fake 1957 Omega Speedmaster at auction, which sold at Phillips in Geneva in November 2021 for $3.3 million.

The reference model CK2915 was produced between 1957 and 1959. It was the first watch in which the tachymeter scale was moved from the dial to the bezel.

A watch purchased by Omega for its own museum turned out to be made from a mixture of authentic Speedmaster parts and other vintage watches assembled by a former employee in tandem with resellers.
